The Way Forward

Global Alliance Initiative for Values-based Education (GAVE)

At the close of the International Summit on Values-based Education held in Gold Coast, Australia on 5th and 6th November 2022 it was decided to explore the possibility of forming the Global Alliance for Values-based Education (GAVE). Since then a set of Bylaws have been established and invitations have been sent out to all those registered for the Summit, inviting them to join as an individual or an organisation.

Diploma of Vaues Development and Wellbeing

Steps are being taken to develop and register the above Diploma with the Australian government. The proposed Diploma will fit into the category of a Vocational Education and Training (VAT) course which, it is hoped, can be taken as a pathway to post-graduate training in education department in any university in the country. Once the Diploma has been established in Australia, it will provide a template for establishing similar diplomas in other countries.

The Aims and purpose of the proposed Diploma – which will be for those working in, or planning to enter, the school teaching field can be encapsulated in the following two areas of intention:

1. To address the high level of mental health problems and lack of wellbeing in societies across the world, particularly in the young.
2. To rejuvenate those education systems in crisis due to the high levels of stress and burnout in its teachers and school leaders (principals, deputy principals, etc.)
